Q: What kind of events do you have in the course of a year?
A: Our events often differ annually. But, our yearly calendar generally includes the following:
- Monthly Networking Breakfast
- Monthly Networking Happy Hour
- Professional Development Workshops / Professional Networking Opportunities
- Non-Profit Volunteer Opportunities
Q: Why should I attend an event?
A: Events are designed to give you ample opportunities to network, gain professional development, socialize with other Chicagoland professionals, and volunteer.
Q: Do I have to register for YPC events?
A: YPC paid annual members receive free admission to the monthly Business for Breakfast and the monthly Social Connect however we do ask that you RSVP so we know you're coming! Paid members also receive discounted pricing on select events at registration. Non-paid annual members are required to register for all events in advance. We ask you to pre-register via our Event Calendar so that we can accurately estimate attendance.
Q: When are most events scheduled?
A: Most events are Monday-Friday; we may also have select social and sports events scheduled on the weekend.
Q: Do people go to events even if they don't know anyone there?
A: Absolutely! You'll find that those who attend our events are friendly and willing to talk to everyone. After all, we're all there to network, so everyone makes an effort to meet new people.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Most events are scheduled before or after work so come as you are. Otherwise business casual is fine and if special attire is required it will be mentioned in the event description on our Event Calendar.
Q: I have registered for an event but am unable to attend. Can I get a refund?
A: YPC is happy to refund your registration fee up to one week prior to an event. Due to the commitments we make with our venues and vendors we are unable to offer refunds in the last seven days prior to an event.
Q: Is my involvement in YPC considered a business expense?
A: You have to check with your employer. Some employers will directly reimburse a YPC membership and/or allow for business expense deductions. Everyone can write off their YPC membership costs as a business deduction on his or her taxes.
Q: What is my email address used for?
A: Email will only be used to communicate upcoming events and updates. Recipients are welcome to opt-out of the YPC emails at any time. Email addresses will NEVER be sent to any third party.
Q: Can I buy a mailing list of your members?
A: No. YPC's mailing list is NOT available in any form and members' personal/contact information will NEVER be given out. However, we do offer opportunities to access our membership through sponsorship of our organization or a specific event.
Q: Is YPC politically affiliated?
A: No. YPC is neutral on all political matters. At times, we may have leaders in politics speak to our group; however, their thoughts and opinions do not reflect those of our organization.
